so did a ‘couply’ thing last night- game night with 3 other couples….we were paired with our respective spouses and played enormously silly, funny party games….! during the dumb charade version where suhail acyed out bugs bunny , we rolled on the floor watching his wife getting supremely antsy about not being able to guess and calling him a drunk deer , a giraffe and many other equally fun suggestions….
we got angry with our husbands when they couldn’t guess, got mad at ourselves for throwing the dice wrong ,got upset when we couldn’t draw something with our eyes closed and worse still our husbands couldn’t feel what we are thinking….i mean a random oval in the middle of the page was obviously Mr. Weatherbee…..Couldn’t they see it?????
BUT WE LAUGHED…..WE HELPED EACH OTHER & WE YELLED AT A BAD DICE ROLL TOGETHER…
WE HELPED EACH OTHER CHEAT.
AND WE RECONNECTED!
Being in love with your spouse is easy….but the ‘keeping it going’ requires patience, laughter and lots of love….
and we felt that last night…..
and yup the chocolate cake and apple pies helped too!

So I have been down… sickness and the end of a show don’t help! I had a gnawing pain in my stomach -part of it thanks to a terrible bacterial infection and the other thanks to rehearsals ending. What was my purpose now? Do I have a point? Am I goal-less? Ok….maybe I’m a bit harsh on myself….but writing 2 screenplays and 2 scripts and 3 shows still made me feel without ‘work’!
And then suddenly…post an incredible , quiet temple visit yesterday….I smiled and relaxed and suddenly i’m being rushed off my feet and feeling thoroughly dissatisfied that we have only 24 hrs in a day and I AM HAPPY!
God helped me get my mojo back! I’m rushed, overworked and snappy and INCREDIBLY HAPPY!

and so over the years i have dabbled in films, in tv and now am currently scripting not one but 2 new films and people keep asking why i go ‘back’ to theatre….the kalaghoda festival showed me why…
there i was SICK…yes i got sick. with a bacterial infection-on VALENTINES DAY and if things couldn’t get any worse, i was stuck on a diet of dried toast and even more tasteless water and had a show to produce, direct and act in!!! life was tough…..and only getting tougher!
and then the hall opened….a 150 seater had 500 + people and even more standing in the aisles, corridors, sound console; and suddenly every available sq cm. was filled up with eager looking, brand new, shiny faces! and what a show we had…i ate off the audiences energy and forgot about all illness and woe and celebrated valentines day and love and the stage and all that i love and enjoy and i became me again! ‘let’s talk about love!’ easily my funniest, truest little play….the ‘cookie’ of my plays!!!!!
waiting to now stage act 1 & 2 @ the ncpa!

i love valentines day!
ok – so i said it. i am a sap, a complete and utter sap! i love flowers and chocolates and heart shaped balloons and teddy bears. i love romantic dinners and soppy songs. i love the one day when you can wander around moony eyed and sappy without explanation.
i love holding hands and laughter.
i love the together forever after!
i love love!
it’s funny that in a world that’s built on climbing a ladder, running the rat race and pulling people down that we don’t celebrate love on more than one day! if i had my way there’d be weeks/ months dedicated to it!
the boys are happy- i don’t have my way!
but then …think about this you read articles where people make statements that there are no happy marriages/ that marriages are compromises and i feel–how sad is that? we don’t compromise our careers, our wants , our desires –why compromise on the person that you want to spend the rest of your life with….!
sure – he/ she may not be perfect—but then again neither are you!
sure- it make take a while— but do you eat a half baked cake/ uncooked food! the best things in life are worth waiting for!
sure- there’ll be ups and downs—but that’s life and isn’t it better to have someone pull you up when you’re down!
and so i love love! it many not be cool to gush over valentines day, but i do!
and we’re doing a play- called ‘let’s talk about love!’ on valentines day to close the kala ghoda festival!
it’s free….so come celebrate love with me!
